your computer buying journey will inevitably lead to the question of "what is a RAM  and how much you need? let's explain.

RAM is short for Random Access Memory and it often just called Main memory & Memory. Memory is not storage or where you keep your files. the place where you keep your files is disk drive or the Hard Drive. Instead, think of RAM like sort-term memory.

When you have a file or a app open, it loads onto RAM from the disk drive, and then you work with it. when you closes the file or app, the app leaves the RAM and return to the Hard disk drive. This happens because RAM is much faster at reading and  writing information than a disk drive, and it isn't designed to store information long term. the more memory you have, the more your computer can do it one time without slowdowns in performances.

How much memory do you need ?

If you primarily browse the web,
work on documents
or stream videos online,
4GB RAM will work for you.

But I recommend 8GB or more
to keep your computer running smoothly
 now and long-term.

If you are editing videos, working with high resolution photos,
or working with anything that demands higher performances like gaming,
you will want to have at least 16GB of RAM.

Note: The RAM is all ways smaller than the hard disk
